What exactly is a “schedule change”?
School closure, delayed start, early release, event cancellation, etc.
How do you decide when to close school or delay the start due to weather?
Our students, faculty and staff come from a wide geographic area. Weather and road conditions can vary significantly across the region. Our decision is made based upon the weather and road conditions (or forecasted conditions) at Villa and the surrounding neighborhoods.
We don’t live near Villa. What should we do?
For those who do not live near school, a decision to travel to Villa must be made based upon your local conditions – but please err on the side of caution!
When do you announce a schedule change?
As early as possible, often the evening before. Our goal is to minimize the disruption to families and allow for alternate child-care plans, etc.
Where do you make these announcements?
Multiple locations including:
- Local radio and TV broadcasts, email alerts, and smartphone notifications (via Flash Alert Newswire website, operated by Puget Sound Educational Service District)
- Villa website homepage
- All school email to parents/guardians, faculty, and staff
