Extended Day & Enrichment

Villa's Extended Day Program (EDP) offers a warm and inviting space, a friendly and professional staff, and a schedule that supports student success in school—academically, socially, and physically. Each day, we strive to provide a balance between individual and group activities, quiet study time, and recreational opportunities. In addition to before and after school care, EDP offers enrichment classes, clubs, and performing arts opportunities. EDP is licensed by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

    P4 ENRICHMENT CLASSES/PROGRAMS

    Register HERE for 2016 - 17 P4 Enrichment>>

The P4 Enrichment program is available for interested families from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. P4 Enrichment is an opportunity for your child to play, interact, and explore with their friends beyond the regular P4 scheduled day. Included in this two-hour block each day is supervised outdoor play, time for lunch, and an hour of focused enrichment fun. Each day has a different theme and activities.

    Monday - Fine Arts Exploration
Each we week will explore visual art, drama, music, or creative movement. For example, we might learn about a famous artist then create paintings in a similar style, or we might turn a favorite story into a play. During music and creative movement sessions we will sing, make music, and move—working on coordination, dexterity, balance, and musicality.

    Tuesday - Science Club
We will encourage curiosity, hone observation skills and learn about the scientific process through fun experiments. Through each experiment we will practice making predictions, performing experiments, recording our observations, drawing conclusions, and making Science connections to everyday life especially through work in our Preschool Garden.

    Wednesday - Movers and Shakers
During our Wednesday afternoons together, we will explore how our bodies move. Creative Dance for all Ages is a unique, brain-compatible program that uses the elements and principles of dance to help children through a variety of learning processes (perceiving, understanding, doing, creating, and valuing). We also use a program based on Kundalini Yoga that uses stories to teach basic yoga poses, the importance of breathing, and how we can use our breath to calm down.

    Thursday - Game Day
Come and play with us! Games are not only fun; they can be rich learning opportunities. Games can help kids master new skills and concepts such as number and shape recognition, grouping, and counting; letter recognition and reading; visual perception and color recognition; and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. We will participate in games of all types including board games, SmartBoard games, and outdoor games.

    Friday - Book Club
We will explore in-depth many award-winning children’s picture books through reading, discussion, and dramatic re-enactment. We will then create individual and group stories, books, and poems based on the stories that we explored.
