FREE CLINICS
We are offering a FREE pass to everyone to come and try out a Donald Watts Basketball class and a Cassidy Gray soccer class. FREE! This is a great opportunity for every student! I feel it is very important for every child to participate in some athletic team setting. It is great for your body and your mind. It teaches teamwork, commitment, cooperation, skills, working as a unit, and how to win as well as lose.

Please contact Donald Watts and Cassidy Gray by the end of April to schedule your FREE class!

WE WANT WATTS!
Exciting news – Donald Watts is back by popular demand to lead Watts Basketball Classes at Villa Academy. Spring classes fill up fast, from the Little Dribblers (K-3rd Grade) and Future Stars (4th – 6h Grade) to All Stars (6th – 8th Grade), so register ASAP!

The Watts Way – CONFIDENCE, TEAMWORK, ENJOYMENT – are the touchstones your child will cultivate and take with them through life.  They’ll learn the best about the game and, most importantly, themselves! During the eight week course, professional coaches work closely with each student to nurture a sense of game intelligence while building character, confidence, sportsmanship and other lifelong skills that stick beyond the basketball court.

“Watts paved the way for a lot of us in the community…The hard work Donald puts in the community and on the court rubs off on people, its a blessing…”  – Nate Robinson (University of Washington, Denver Nuggets)

HURRY! Classes begin soon, so please register today. Questions? Call (206) 467-1383 or email the team at info@wattsbasketball.com.

Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you all.

TENNIS AND GOLF

Tennis
Dates: February 13-April 3
Class meets Thursdays from 3:20-4:20.
Cost: $130 for 8 weeks, $240 for both golf and tennis

TGA Premier Youth Tennis is bringing the tennis court to Villa Academy! TGA, in national partnership with the United States Tennis Association, co-designed a tennis enrichment program that focuses on athletic, academic and character development for children. The TGA curriculum uses tennis equipment that is modified to be size appropriate and safe, so we can turn the school gym into a tennis court. In addition to professional tennis instruction, your child will take part in a combination of physical fitness for health benefits and academics such as math, science, language and social studies for educational development. Every class focuses on social interaction, developing positive character traits and most importantly having fun! TGA’s mission is to empower our students with the tools to be successful on the tennis court and in life.

Golf
Dates: February 14-April 4
Class meets Fridays from 3:20-4:20.
Cost: $130 for 8 weeks, $240 for both golf and tennis

TGA Premier Junior Golf brings the golf course to Villa Academy! Our national, award winning, 5 level program is specially designed for children and builds upon the educational concepts they are learning in the class room. Fun comes first in every TGA class, but our curriculum also focuses on instilling self-confidence and life values through professional golf instruction. Students learn the fundamentals, etiquette and rules of the game. Best of all, we provide all the equipment and training materials so children of all skill levels have the chance to come out and tee it up with TGA!

6th Grade Girls Win Soccer Championship

Congratulations to the Villa 6th grade girls soccer team on winning the CYO Championship! Despite wind gusts that blew the actual ball at times, the Vikings, led by Katie O. with two goals and Rachel R. with another, defeated St. Francis 3-0.  Goalies Lizzie K. and Katie O. combined for the shutout, marking the third time this season the Viking defense blanked its opponent.

The team was excited, but not surprised by their victory. Going into the game “we were confident in our skills,” said Cate B. Players give credit to their coaches, Steve Tanaka and David Sommerville, for pushing the team to train hard and believe the amount of running they did in early season practices was one of two key factors in their success. The other being the bond they share as teammates, many having played together since kindergarten.  “It’s the most supportive team I’ve ever had,” said Lucy T. The Vikings finished their season with 8 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

Viking Baseball in CYO Championship

Congratulations to the 7th/8th grade baseball team who beat St. Francis last week to advance to the CYO Championship game. The Vikings take on University Prep this Sunday, June 2 at noon at Walt Hundley Field.

Be sure to mark your calendars and come on out to cheer them on! Go Vikings!

Soccer

Soccer registration and soccer camps and clinic sign ups are now! Registration forms are available online and in the office.  If you’ve already registered, please complete concussion, Late Registration Policy and Code of Conduct forms.

Letter From our Soccer Director:

My name is Cassidy Gray and I am the new Director of Coaching for soccer at Villa Academy.  I want to let you all know about training opportunities this summer.  If you are interested in signing up or would like more information please contact me at cagray7@gmail.com.

First and foremost, I will be hosting a summer camp at Villa from 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. during the weeks of August 19-23 and 26-30.  I’ve opened a one week pre-registration period due to limited space available (60 spots total, 30 each week.)  At least 40 spots have been reserved for Villa students and another 10 (already sold) have been reserved for some of my top students over the years.  My intention for this is to ensure a skilled and mature foundation which I believe will set a good example for other campers.

In addition to the summer camp I will be running training sessions on campus Wednesdays from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M..  These are hour sessions for all ages and group sizes range from 1-12.  I highly recommend signing up with friends who have similar skill and ability levels.

Thanks, and I’ll see you on the pitch!
Cassidy
