Parenting with Courage and Connection

April 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Parlor

Jody McVittie, MD, a parent trainer, coach and parent educator will focus on how parents can connect with kids and see behavior that makes everyone happier. Using what she has learned from studying leading childhood behaviorist, working with families and educators as well as her experience with her own children, Jody will guide us through new ways of thinking about balancing firmness and kindness to create better relationships. She will provide insight into why we all do the crazy things that they do when trying to get along in families.

This event is free, open to the public and for parents with children of all ages.

Childcare will not be provided.

The Parrot Lady

Debbie Goodrich, aka the “Parrot Lady,” came to Villa to educate preschool students about parrots and the need to conserve our planet and save the rainforests.

This morning, the birds entertained students with a wide range of tricks including rollerskating, basketball, flight, and even speech (both English and Macaw).

Computer Lab Open Houses

It’s a busy time in the computer lab as Mrs. O’Neil and her classes host a series of parent open house events.  Students in grades 3-5 take this opportunity to present completed projects to parent visitors, demonstrating their knowledge of computer basics, research skills, and proficiency in software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Hyperstudio.

The projects are top notch, but equally impressive is the students’ confidence with technology, their ability to present their work and explain how the computer program aided their research.

Watch the video clip below from yesterday’s 5th grade ABC State PowerPoint presentations.
