I started working with preschool age children as part of a bible study ministry. It was there that I discovered the joy of being with preschoolers who are so eager to learn and explore.

"I feel honored and blessed to be working at such an amazing school. The faculty is a collaborative team that is welcoming, intelligent, and dedicated to helping all students achieve success. As an educator I love seeing my students not only grow as learners but grow into well-rounded individuals. A student working to contribute to their community not only academically but also through service brings me great joy. Helping students reach their full potential and exceed their own expectations is an amazing feeling."

Villa's student body size and building configuration ensure that, in the course of a week, most of the students will cross paths. At Villa, the students, faculty and staff all benefit from the interactions that happen spontaneously and meaningfully throughout daily life in the school community."

I grew up with a mother who was a teacher. Seeing the impact she had on her students helped me realize that I wanted to follow in her footsteps. Villa is a place where the students always come first and I love the emphasis on teacher collaboration. My favorite part of teaching is that “aha” moment for the students. The look in their eyes is one of excitement and pride.

I became a teacher because of Jody Desclos, the incredible 7/8th grade teacher I had at St. John’s Catholic School in Greenwood. I love kids and getting to connect with them on a daily basis. So far I’ve really enjoyed the people I’ve met and the community they’ve created here at Villa.

"There are countless things I love about being an educator! One of the reasons I love teaching so much is the ability to watch young children learn and grow not only as students, but develop into the people who one day will define our world. Their curiosity and genuine joy is evident in everything they do, which of course helps me notice lots of little amusing things. I don't think there are many other jobs that offer that kind of excitement day in and day out."

Employees work across departments to lend their knowledge where ever it might be useful, students "buddy" between grade levels and join in school wide projects, and parents are constantly engaged as volunteers, coaches, board members, and mentors.
