Food for a Thousand
Today Villa Academy 4th grade students celebrated their year long efforts to fight hunger in the greater Seattle community through a series of community service events, by presenting Food Lifeline with a a check for $1,184!
Students have made several visits to Food Lifeline throughout the year and in very heartfelt essays recalled their experience packaging popcorn for distribution to families in need. Many families are considered the “working poor” – hard working people who despite employment, fall short every month.
Thanks to the success of the Fourth Grade’s “Empty Bowl” soup dinner event, where the proceeds from soup and bowl sales were collected on behave of Food Lifeline, more than one thousand people will have food for the entire day!
